Failure to get your standards arrangements right locally or to deal with a particular issue may risk a breakdown in local governance or lengthy legal battles for your council.

While each council will have its own needs and solutions, we recognise that there is great advantage to sharing experiences and best practice. In the absence of national guidance and rules, it can often be a lonely place when things threaten to go wrong.

To support all those working within councils and local areas to support high standards, we therefore offer a dedicated interactive website. For £300 a year, an authority gets two subscriptions. This will give you access to the latest news on standards issues, including cases and best practice from other authorities, access to help and support and a dedicated chat room where you can discuss your issues with other authorities. You will also receive a regular standards bulletin.
